Star & Crescent Foundation
The Star and Crescent shall not be worn by every man, but only by him who is worthy to wear it. He must be a gentleman, a man of honor and courage, a man of zeal, yet humble, an intelligent man, a man of truth, one who tempers action with wisdom and, above all else, one who walks in the light of God. Gamma Chapter has produced a long and illustrious list of leaders in business, law, medicine, religion, government, industry and athletics. The Gamma Chapter roster includes a Louisiana governor, a former congressman, several great athletes, a former Secretary of the Navy, as well as a host of doctors, lawyers, accountants, business executives, and judges.

The Brothers of Gamma Chapter have been so influential in their support for LSU that at least seven buildings on campus bear the names of our alumni. Just a few feet down Dalyrmple Drive from the Gamma Lodge, stands Pleasant Hall named after Brother and former governor of Louisiana , Ruffin G. Pleasant who was initiated into Gamma Chapter in the late 1800’s. In addition, Atkinson Hall, Broussard Hall, Campbell Auditorium, Hodges Hall, the Frey Computing Center, and Choppin Hall all are the namesakes of members of Gamma Chapter.

The Gamma tradition and legacy is unrivaled. The Star and Crescent Foundation of Louisiana was founded by Gamma Chapter alumni to carry on our storied legacy and build upon the four pillars of Kappa Sigma we all hold dear: fellowship, leadership, scholarship and service.
After years of discussion and planning, Gamma alumni formally filed and created an educational foundation, the Star and Crescent Foundation of Louisiana, in 2013. The Star and Crescent Foundation is an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Contributions to the foundation are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Each year, we will reward students who demonstrate a commitment to our core values with educational scholarships. These scholarships will allow us to reward and encourage members of Gamma Chapter who excel in the classroom, lead on campus, serve their community and make fellowship with their brothers a priority. The Foundation will also invest in the lives of students through mentoring and leadership training.
The Foundation will host regular fundraising events designed to not only raise money for our educational mission, but also to foster fellowship among alumni and the active brothers. We hope that you will join us in and support the Star and Crescent Foundation as we look to build on the storied legacy of Gamma Chapter.
